For the remainder of June, I’m committing to do good things for other people. I really need to work more on helping to lift others up than focusing so much on myself (though my own personal well being is extremely important and I firmly believe it is difficult for one to effectively help someone else if you can’t help yourself). It’s so much fun to see other people smile and/or brighten their day, even if just for a little while.
So, I am going to hop on the Random Acts of Kindness boat. I have one main thing planned that will allow me to check off #35 on my 101 in 1,001. I’m not going to tell you what it is though because I plan for it to be anonymous.
Some ideas for Random Acts of Kindness are: (Comment if you have additional ideas that you love!)
- Send a hand-written "Thank You" note
- Send a hand-written "Thinking of You" card
- Pay for the meal or beverage of someone in line behind you (If you're in the Twin Cities, check out the KTIS Drive Through Difference)
- Make baked goods
- Make a bag lunch and bring it to someone who is homeless
- Volunteer at a shelter or soup kitchen
- Offer to babysit for a parent who needs a day/night out
- Deep clean your home for your parent(s)/spouse/roommate(s)/etc while they are gone
- Clean out your closet and donate clothes you no longer wear
- Send flowers
- Say only positive things to (and about) others
- Smile and say hi to people in passing - even strangers!
- Compliment someone
