Love is Louder

Love is Louder. It's a powerful statement. After the spike in suicides in September, actress Brittany Snow partnered with MTV and The Jed Foundation to create Love is Louder, a movement pushing to send the message that love is more powerful than hate, bullying, self criticism, etc.

The 7 Days of Love is Louder, a December "spread the word" campaign, launched today. Take time to tell people that Love is Louder and make an extra effort to show kindness to everyone around you.

Check out the 7 Days of Love is Louder schedule and join in!

Day 1 - Wed 12/1 - AMPLIFY: Help grow the movement by writing #loveislouder on your hand to spread the word and inviting your friends and family members to follow Love is Louder on Facebook and/or Twitter so they can be part of the 7 days of #loveislouder. Upload or tweet out a pic of your "hand art" or post/tweet how you've spread the word.

(I wrote Love is Louder on my wrist because the pen would wash off with handwashing)

Day 2 - Thurs 12/2 - REACH OUT: Give someone who needs it a compliment today or reach out to someone you haven't spoken to before. Your positive words and actions can make a huge difference, especially to someone having a difficult time.

Day 3 - Fri 12/3 - APPRECIATE: Make a list of what you are grateful for. Focusing on the positive things in our life makes us healthier and happier. It also makes us more resilient when negative voices try to pull us down. Post your grateful list on Facebook or tweet it out.

Day 4 - Sat 12/4 - GIVE: Make a donation to a charity or commit your time to volunteer with a cause you care about. If you choose to, you can make a donation to The Jed Foundation and the #loveislouder campaign by texting LOUDER to 20222.

Day 5 - Sun 12/5 - LOVE: We have to give ourselves love by taking care of ourselves and focusing on the positive. Today, make a resolution for the coming year on how you will make love louder in your own life. Examples are: "I'll remember that love is louder than my feelings of insecurity," or "I'm going to spend 10 minutes every day reflecting on the positive things in my life."

Day 6 - Mon 12/6 - SPEAK UP: Have you been worried about a friend but afraid to ask them how they are doing? Have you been struggling with something big or small that you've been reluctant to share? Today's the day to speak up and make an impact.

Day 7 - Tues 12/7 - CELEBRATE: Create Love is Louder artwork or incporate Love is Louder into your holiday decorations to send out a powerful message to anyone who is having a hard time. You can do this on your own or with a school, organization or group of friends. Ideas include: creating graffiti (the legal kind) by writing #loveislouder on sidewalks with chalk, your windows with soap or putting up posters around your community or campus; encouraging people in your school or organization to create and display Love is Louder artwork; or incorporate Love is Louder into your holiday decorations by making ornaments or signs. Get creative and make sure to upload pics to the Love is Louder FB page or tweet them out with the #loveislouder hashtag.
